The return of incentive meetings


This month's issue of MPI's The Meeting Professional focuses on something we're really passionate about: incentive travel. According to the article, incentive travel is making a comeback. Yes, the demand for incentive travel is there, including a bounce-back in budgets, the interest in international sites and content-rich programming. However, there are still many challenges, including rising travel costs and limited availability when booking less than 18 months out. We couldn't agree more.

"We're doing site-selection in some fabulous international locations that meeting planners and attendees are really excited about visiting, including Istanbul, Germany, Ireland, Mexico and others," said Tracey Bockhop, CMP, president and founder of Meet Meetings. "However, companies continue to watch their bottom line and perception of their spending coming out of the recession, so it's important to be budget-conscious while still delivering an incentive trip that wows attendees."

"We're looking at new hotel locations that offer reduced rates, budget-friendly excursions and a focus on corporate responsibility to offset the perception of a big-budget trip," Tracey added.
